Cozy Camping Bear

This piece was inspired by a family trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, where the mountains, rivers, and crisp mountain air had a magical way of slowing everything down. There’s something special about those moments when time feels suspended, and the biggest decision you face is whether to hike a new trail, ride bikes through the forest, roast a hotdog over the campfire, or simply sit quietly, watching the flames dance against the backdrop of a starry sky.

As I reflected on that trip, the idea of this friendly little bear came to life. I imagined him camping alongside us, perched by his cozy retro camper, roasting a hotdog while keeping an eye on the river below, where a kayaker drifts along with the current. When creating this piece, I focused on what I’d want to see in a child’s room: a mix of adventure, whimsy, and calm. It was pure fun to build out the bear’s personality with little touches—like his relaxed demeanor or the playful details hidden in the campground.
